At a time when all (besides them) people their age are enjoying retirement and spending their days playing with their grandchildren Pete & Bas are the new UK Drill rap sensations (that sounds weird, doesn't it?).
When I first saw them I thought they were a parody (hi Big Shaq) but these OGs are really doing it. You can check their videos in the playlist below (15 to be exact).
Having also recently released a mixtape the septuagenarians do not seem to slowing down. I guess it's never too late to follow your passion. The interesting thing is that 5 years ago they knew nothing of the genre they're currently gaining fame for.
Their first live show consisted of around 20 people in a pub in London's Blackheath. By 2019 they were selling out shows across the UK (the tour bus consisted of Bas's campervan) and they even played a show in the party resort of Ayia Napa in Cyprus, where they were pulled over by police while driving mopeds. "They got out of their car and put their bat under their belt and we thought, 'What the hell have we done now'?" Pete says. "They walked up to us and said, 'Can we have a selfie?'"
In an age where most creatives retire at 30 if fame hasn't knocked on their door maybe success will come later in life.
